A stroll on the beach
After collecting Morgan from school yesterday we popped in to see a friend but a Morgan was nodding off to sleep I decided to take him for a little stroll on the beach for some fresh air to revitalise him!
I had my little compact Pentax Optio W60 waterproof camera with me so I took a few shots whilst we were there. It wasn’t a particularly exciting day weather wise but with a little bit of fiddling I was able to get some decent shots.
Which is your favourite?
- Groyne Textures
- Groyne and Rays of Sun
- Sitting on the Steps
- Beach Houses
- On the Groyne
Groyne & Rays of Sun is defo my favourite.
I’m just off out with my camera this afternoon on the tarka trail. I need a lot of practise!
Aaah, the Tarka Trail… Brings back some memories. Mainly of razzing along it on a quad bike to capture and detain a guy who had been indecently exposing himself on the beach when I was Lifeguarding at Instow one day!!! 🙂
No doubt I’ve told you the tale before!
Al.
Groynes and Rays of sun is my favourite too, although the ones of the beach houses is a close second. Actually, I like the one of the boy on the groyne as well!
Hi Al
Some great posts you’ve made which makes for a fascinating read. Especially so when I’m meant to be revising for my forthcoming exams in 2 weeks time. I’m trying to find any distraction where possible to avoid the dreaded study.
I’m quite fascinated by your camera (Pentax Optio W60). The fact it’s waterproof along with the image quality and optical zoom sounds like the ideal camera for me. A quick search and £169 is the best price I’ve come across on pricerunner.co.uk
Morgans grown up as well, I’m sure the last time I saw him he was about 2 years old delving into a number of toys and making the biggest mess possible for his parents!
I’ll hopefully be down for the Boardwise demo in late October providing there’s decent wind forecast so see you then.
Keep up the blogs.
Jonny
Hi Jonny,
There is actually a new version of the Pentax Optio out (The W80) which has 12 megapixels a better zoom and is shockproof as well as waterproof and dust proof… Looks good, but it does of course mean that you should be able to get a good deal on the W60 as well.
I’m pretty impressed with it and used it in the water at the weekend.. I have some photos to go up on here soon from it. The fact that you can carry it with you all the time and not worry too much about it makes it a great camera, and the results from it are good too.
I certainly recommend it! My first impressions are here: https://www.alananna.co.uk/blog/2009/pentax-optio-w60-first-impressions/

Oh, and I’ll hopefully see you at the Boardwise Demo! Start praying for wind now!
