A Good Nights Moth-Trapping
I thought last night would be a good night for the Moth Trap. It was raining heavily to start with so I didn’t put it out until later, but the winds had eased, the temperatures were mild – only dropping to 7.7ºC and the damp conditions seemed ideal for moths.
The catch was as follows:
- Shoulder Stripe x5
- Common Quaker x 2
- Hebrew Character x4
- Early Grey x4
- Dotted Border x1
- Small Quaker x2
- Mottled Grey x2
- Red Chestnut x 7
- Twin-spotted Quaker x1
Not a bad catch and the Twin-spotted Quaker was a new garden record. The Red Chestnuts were difficult to ID though as they do vary quite a bit.
