For the last session of the beginners beekeeping course we’ve been doing with the Aberystwyth Bee Keeping Association (ABKA) we had a hands on hive inspection at Ann’s Aipary. Alan was off doing the Dyfi Enduro so Morgan and I went without him. It was really windy at our house and our new nuc of...
We’ve been watching the hives on and off over the last few days. I think the bees have settled into the relaxed way of life here in Ynyslas. They don’t seem to really get going until midday but are then pretty busy all afternoon. Both hives have been lively whilst the sun is out and...
Good to see that Danny MacAskill is ‘almost’ human. Morgan wants to be just like him and we’ve been out practising on his bike this morning – It’s going to take a while though, but it’s good to have high aspirations.
I’ve been set a training plan by a coach in the triathlon club and have therefore been trying to stick to it. On the schedule for Wednesday was a hilly 45 minute run. Now, it’s 4 miles to the nearest hill from here so running from home means that all of my runs to date...
The Dyfi Enduro 2011 results are out. You can download the spreadsheet here. I’m pretty pleased with my placing just inside the top 100. Everyone else that I ride with did really well too. Jon came in 18th (11th in his category) in a time of 3:07:13 – The winner Neal Crampton did it in...
The official photos from the 2011 Dyfi Enduro are out, but I’ve been seeing lots of others too so here’s a round up of some photo galleries from the Dyfi Enduro 2011. Right Time Right Place – The Official photographer of the Dyfi Enduro 2011 MBNW– A nice album showing the Dyfi Enduro riders, the...
Don’t worry I won’t post these every day, but as the bees have now been here for a couple of days and the wind has eased I thought I’d watch them for a bit to see how they are getting on. We fed them when we housed the nucs in the hives and have since...
The Mr. Potato Head Easter Egg that Morgan had for Easter didn’t last long – it was made of chocolate afterall! Morgan enjoyed making him though so Anna kept the packaging that the various body parts came in, melted up some more chocolate and poured it into to moulds to make new body parts. Here...
The caterpillars are back, creating their weblike nests in the trees. This year they are in a Willow tree rather than the hawthorn at the moment, but once again I think they are the caterpillar of the Lackey Moth. Morgan discovered them this year and took this photo to show me.
