Party Preparations
Phew, we have been busy! It was our 10th wedding anniversary the other day so we’re throwing a bit of a garden party. Guests have been invited and many are coming from far afield so we though we should make an effort as well.
I’ve been working on the garden for weeks in preparation for the party and it is just about ready.
Barbeques are in place and music playlists have been chosen. We given the house a good clean and tidy as some guests will be staying over so we have had to re-arrange a few things. We even have a portaloo for the guests to use. This may seem silly but I doubt if our septic tank will cope woth a sudden influx so we thought it was better safe than sorry on this front. Much better to have to use a portaloo in the garden than traipse through the house and risk the potential of a spetic tank overflow. That would be the last thing we’d need in the garden in the middle of a party.
We have a marquee that we will put up later, and various gazebos in case of rain. The food has been bought (well most of it) as guests should be bringing their own as well. We have plates, cutlery, glasses, tables and chairs at the ready and I’m now in the middle of a full on bake-fest. A ‘Fruity Earl Grey Tea Bread’ has already been baked, as have two delciious ‘Lemon, Lime and Poppy Seed Cakes’. There’s a Celebration Chocolate Cake in the oven, and one in a loaf tin. The former will be iced and decorated later, the latter may just get eaten straight away! I’ll make a Blackcurrant Cheesecake tomorrow using blackcurrants from the garden, and still to be baked are Nanaimo Bars, Rhubarb and Custard Slices and a Gooey Butter Cake…. If you’re coming, don’t expect to go home without gaining a few pounds!
- Chocolate Cake Mixture
- Earl Grey Tea Bread
- Lemon Lime and Poppy Seed Cakes
- Pan
Still loads to do of course, but we have tomorrow yet, and we even managed to inspect some bees today and I went for a run… Busy busy busy, but it’ll all be worth it and it’ll be good to see everyone. It’s just a shame we have no control over the weather which has been gorgeous all day today and will be tomorrow. Saturday which is party day isn’t looking so great though. Never mind, we’ll party whatever the weather!
Congratulations! Those lucky lucky guests, what a feast will await them.
What if we eat it all on Friday!
no chance of that Lyn, even with you all there Friday, Saturday and Sunday you didn’t manage to eat all our food….just trying to think of something creative to do with the 100 bread rolls we have left over!
