Insta360 Surf Ski

After paddling on Friday and Sunday, it seemed silly not to have a quick one on Monday too. The weaves were mellow, there was the odd bit of sunshine and the winds were light. I wanted to try out my Insta360 camera on the surf ski. Unfortunately, the mount that I hoped would prove successful didn’t really work so I just mounted it on the boat as I always have with a GoPro. It’s back to the drawing board for the other mount. I might just try with the back bar that I used for windsurfing.

The shots aren’t that exciting and not quite what I was hoping for. Nevertheless it was nice out there so here are a few waves from the session. I didn’t even go through all of the footage just picked the first few waves I saw.

Hopefully I’ll be out there again to try again soon. It would be nice to get that ‘drone style’ footage that I can from windsurfing but I have a feeling the surf ski is just going to be far too long to get into a single shot successfully.

I really like that you can zoom in with the insta 360! I guess you can crop with a GoPro too, but the footage just seems crisper on these.

as for the water droplets I thing finding a way to raise the camera up a bit would help drastically with that and a touch of RainX…

I’m looking to attach a camera to my surfski too so been looking around for inspiration

nice work! see ya on the water
